THE GUILT TRIP
“Guilt trip = not-so-guilty pleasure”
This movie was surprisingly good. Uncharacteristically sympathetic performances from Seth Rogen and a script free of the expected schmaltz made watching this a very pleasurable experience.
As inventor Andy Brewster is about to embark on the road trip of a lifetime, a quick stop at his mom's house turns into an unexpected cross-country voyage with her along for the ride. The Guilt Trip is a 2012 American comedy-drama film directed by Anne Fletcher from a screenplay written by Dan Fogelman, starring Seth Rogen as Andy Brewster and Barbra Streisand as his mother Joyce, who both also served as executive producers on the film.
With obvious overtones of parental love being constant, "Guilt Trip" still delivers a legitimately funny story with well-acted dramatic comedy. Had this been released closer to mother’s day it would have been a little more on-the-nose but as a holiday/family movie I think it's a winner.
